    Reverse lights on constant

The reverse lights on my eta just started coming on constant no matter what gear it is in when the car is running. It is a 5 speed if that matters. What would be a cause for this?

I saw an Audi A6 with the same issue driving home yesterday lol.

The reverse switch on the tranny is probably jammed. Swapping it for a new one is a very easy job done underneath the car.

Try going R-N-R-N-R-N-R-N a few times and see if they turn off.

I used to think that people were driving around with there reverse switch stuck but turns out its "rear fog lights" (in some cases like the audi)

They're supposed to be red if they're rear fogs.

Either way, rear fogs on without fog should be punishable by death.

Or at least moving target practice for other drivers.

mine did this once, ended up the reverse light wire near the shifter got split and the lights stayed on. Reconnected the wires and that fixed it.

mine also had this problem, and it turns out that when I was doing some work in the center console I reconnected the male connector on the shift linkage with the wrong female connector going into the car. So if you have recently done any work down there you may have made the same mistake I did.
