    starter trouble:(

alright ill try to be as complete as possible in my description. bought the car,(88 325ic) ran fine 225k on it. car got crashed by mom:( bent tie rod, bumper was done, and some fender damage. other then that everything seemed intact. a week later the starter burns itself out. pulled it took it to kragen and got the confirmation that it wasnt going anywhere. picked up a starter refurbished put that in, fired it up work strong and perfect. lowered car to take off jacks tried to start and nothing. pushed starter it cause i needed to go to the store at the time. parked on a hill just in case after maybe 2 miles of driving. tried turning on right after i parked started up 3 times in a row no problem. shopped for about 3 hours then came back started up first time. drove the car with minimal to no problems for a week and now today when i woke up to go to work no start. just one failed crank, then no cranking. any ideas and/or suggestions? buying another car is out of the question btw college student

"remanufactured" starters are frequently complete shit. Sounds like you got a bad one.

On my SBC, I was going through the lifetime warranty remans every 1-6 months after the original lasted 14 years and 160k.

Honestly, the best course of action on a budget is if you still have your old one, take it to a starter rebuilder and have it repaired and take that reman trash back. If not, I'm sure you could find someone selling an OEM one out of a car with reasonable mileage for cheap.

make sure the ground cable is bolted tight to the body.. cable from the oil pan to the body. Check that the starter wire connections are not loose.
