    Responsive steering

    Ok guys here's the deal.

Sunday I was at a drift event with my car and I had managed to set up a meeting between a person selling an e30 to come to the track so I could test it there.

While driving the car I noticed that the steering was so light, I felt like I was driving a Crown Vic or something. The steering wheel was as smooth as butter, I fucking hated it.... I felt like I had no control at all. It's nothing like my POS falling apart e30.

Anyhow, what could it be and how could it be improved?

    Thanks,
    Erick

Ok, but what could be causing it as it is? Some messed up part should be causing this shouldnt it? I would like to figure out what it is. I probably drove about 10 e30s more than once by now, and I never noticed such a blatent difference until now.

Also, how can toe be altered? I know toe is what an alignment is for, but I'm not sure someone at the alignment shop would be like "sure I'll add some toe out for you". I'm guessing tie rods but I dont know much about suspension components.

If you look under your car at the tie-rods you'll know how to do it.

I guess I have to look at it, but wouldnt playing around with the tie rods mess up the alignment?

The car drove fine on the track and the alignment on it was fine. I'm just wondering if it could be anything else because I dont have to have a bad alignment for a more responsive steering. Something else could be causing it, and I'm looking for suggestions why.

              How did it behave?

Easy turn in and seeming to be to easy steering?

I put in new rods this spring and never checked the alignment, the other day the toe out was so bad that the tires squeled under normal driving and the steering was to easy and my P/S was not connected,

I don´t know the factory spec,
but the way you do it is to loosen the tie rods and rotate the shaft the tie rod is in , that way you will put the tire more in or out,
make sure you have equel lenght on both sides and you should be fine, if it doesn´t work you need less toe, so you´ll have to do it again,
I have already done it twice and am going to get less toe next time around.

Check control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod bushings, ball joints...lowered your car? Check strut mounts, could have fucked them up like I did.

Maybe power steering? just a thought...

when my power steering belt broke I could feel the car better.
