I need to replace the steering rack on my 91 318is - After talking to a few garages I came across a cheap rack in good condition from a 87 325i and bought it.
I thought all e30 racks were interchangeable but BavAutosport says not, claiming the 90-91 w/ airbags are different-therefore Id need one off a 90-91 w/ airbag or remanufactured one ($650).
What is linked between the airbag and the steering rack, is there a sensor or something, maybe I could add one myself on the 87 rack?? Are all e30 racks interchangeable?? Help me out with any info...Thanks
