    RAM Intake or not?

Decided to upgrade my intake for shits and giggles. Need some advice. Should I go with the cone K&N Filter or the RAM version? Check these out:

Either way I will have a headshield so that's out of question. Thanks.
    I go wuaaaaaahh pssssshhhhh!!!!

    Ram?

What are the goals with this system? I hope horsepower isn't high on the list.

All of those do the EXACT same thing. Make the engine louder. Nothing else. So just go with one that fits.
      Im now E30less.

you absolutely cant survive without the 3rd one, so make sure you get that one, it is FAR superior to the rest. make sure you buy it and dont listen to anyone elses opinion.

I'm hesitant about the foam filter. Any advice on if the foam filter is better or not?

ITS SOOOOO much better, seriously, foam is the way to go, they are proven to be about 4 or 5 horsepower more than K&N's. you should buy it, definately, its been proven, tested specifically on e30's.

None of those are "ram" air intakes. The only thing different between them, is the little piece of tubing that goes between the AFM and the filter. The tubing helps because it makes the air less turbulent going into the AFM. Don't get the one that bolts the filter straight to the AFM.

You seen M20 dyno charts proving that?

I have not seen any dyno charts proving this, but it is the same reason there is a "velocity stack" in the stock airbox. Why would BMW put this tube inside the airbox that goes almost all the way to the other end of the box, which would even look like it limits airflow? The answer, my friend, is to reduce turbulence.

                        I'm going to have a RAM air intake.....to the stock airbox...to a M30 AFM.

                        who is joking?

get a k&n filter from advanced auto parts and put it into your airbox. thats about the best your gona get.

if u wana get real fancy u can cut the bottom of your air box off. that way u have one big open side for air to come in. i felt a smallllll difference when i did it. but that car defintally sounded meaner.
