is there a center support bearing that gives out on E30's? pardon my ignorance if this is a stupid question. and are they easy/cheap to fix? a car im looking at the guy says there are a couple of problems with it. says the car shudders at like 35mph and he thinks its the center support bearing and that it may be starting to go and that there is oil leaking from somewhere, he belives the valve cover gasket. it is clean clean clean though inside and out and he we will go as low as $1800 with a cup kit, smoked smilies and a 4.10 LSD. about 180k on the odo.....opinions?

In almost all cases, a failure of the center support bearing will be caused by binding u-joints in the drive shaft. While you might gain temporary relief by just changing the CSB, you may still have vibrations and the new CSB will have a very short life. The only real fix is to replace the drive shaft and CSB.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
