325iX Short Shifter problems

Im trying to get the z4 3.0 shifter into my ix. But the part below the ball stretches too low and makes contact with something (I think its the transfer case). Can anyone with an ix chime in on how I can get around this? If at all possible?

the standard ix shifter is sort of bent to go around the transfer case. you'll have to bend the Z4 lever into a similar shape (below the ball part).
