So for the past few months my throwout bearing has been making a noise whenever the clutch is depressed. Previously, it was only a slight grind sound that, although annoying, didn't seem to be too big of an issue. Today, on the way to work something must've happened to it, because now when I press the clutch it screeches, and the clutch pedal doesn't feel right at all. Is it safe to drive it to work like this tomorrow (30 miles) and fix it this weekend, or is the screeching something seriously bad for my clutch? Also, are there any parts I need besides the bearing when fixing this? And if anybody knows how to change the bearing, help would be appreciated.

odds are the screeching is part of the TOB rubbing on the bellows. I had a similar sound in my old turbododge when the TOB disentegrated on me. I personally wouldn't drive it.- Josh

Here's what happens when you let the internet pick your license plate -
tob is shot, and is kiling the pressure plate fingers. dont drive it unless you WANT to be stuck in a gear. replace entire clutch, and be done with it. labor is the same either way, tob and pressure plate are already shit, so just do it all while in thereComment

The clutch barely depresses enough to shove it into gear. Poor car is parked until I can get to my shop next week ):Just tryin' to feed the e30 need.

Yes, I had this exact same problem with my 325i. I bought the super clutch kit off PelicanParts.com. It's like 300$ or something, free shipping within the US and has EVERYTHING that can be replaced when you're pulling the transmission out.

Called and got an estimate of $850 parts and labor. I also have to find out what month my car was made in, as apparently if it was made before a certain date, I need to order a clutch that will take 3 days to get here, and if it was made AFTER that day it'll only take like a day to fix...? FUCK, I can never just get a car that works. I want to sell this e30 and buy a nice rust-free one...Just tryin' to feed the e30 need.
