    Dead tach

So I installed cluster rings and painted my needles red, installed the cluster. Now my tach is dead, tapped it countless times, no bueno. Now my temp needle goes crazy/dead. Cluster was perfect before. What could possibly caused this? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

the tach and temperature gauge acting up or dead after the cluster has been out of the car for a while suggests that the batteries in the SI board were close to failure and have failed with the loss of unswitched power.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

thanks lennon, some diode looked like it melted into a chocolate lump. Replaced si board, good as new! My theories are the si board was going bad or when I was putting it all together, one of the screws may have been too long and shorted the board.
