best way to clean stock bottlecaps to like new condition?

well i got some brushes today one steel one copper and the other nylon and i took some degbreaser and tried to clean my bottlecap rims since they are caked in break dust and it just isnt working..and it also doesnt help that these brushes dont fit in the little crevaces(sp?) and i bought the smallest ones i could find....anyone know a good way to clean rims that are caked in brake dust?

if the brake dust is into the paint and they're all pitted, there's nothing you can do to make them look new but to repaint them.

I gave up on mine and just don't wash them (using as winter tires). it's not like I can wash my car much in the winter anyway. ;)

just paint them black and you will never have to worry about the brake dust!

Castrol SuperClean

One of the techs at my work uses it to clean the wheels on his R32 and it works great. I figure it takes all the crap off of our engines. I bet it would work on your caps. Just don't get it on your paint.

You could also try taking the wheels off the car and cleaning them that way. They will be easier to manuver and clean. After you get them clean like that make sure you clena them on a regular basis and you wont have to worry about them getting dirty.

if they dont know what Spoke is (its a brand) just tell them you need wheel acid.

Its Hydruflouric and Sulfuric acid. It melts brake dust away like nothing else. Its what I've always used as a pro detailer.

That said, do not get any on you. Chemical burns are nearly instant, and very painful. Also do not use it on bare polished aluminum, it will milk it out.

Painted wheels only. Don't spray it directly on Cadmium plated metal either. Strips it off.

Cleans out the inside of transmission bellhousings pretty good too, eh Jordan? :D

Be sure to wear safety goggles, too. You DO NOT want that shit to catch even the slightest breeze and get in your eyes. Rubber gloves aren't a bad idea, either.
