OH Sh!t what should i do now

I broke the little flap in the gas fill tube.

I was filling the car with a 5 gallon can with a funnel and when i was done i tried to remove the funnel but there was a lip on the end and it got cought on the flap. So i wiggled it back and forth and it came out but them i noticed the flap broke off and i fell right down the tube and probably the whole way into the tank. I have the feeling its going to plug something up now. What should i do and i really don't want to have to drop the tank.

    Thanks, Stevan

Shouldn't be a problem. There is a filter on the pump and all the lines are MUCH smaller then the flap. It will just float around inside the tank forever.

If you really wanted to get it out, it would have to drain the tank, pull it and try and shake it out of the filler hole.

Very true, and i also just remember I'm going to be replacing the pump soon and once i pull the pump i should be able to find it down there somewhere.

Pull rear seat out, take off tank cover, pull pump and level out, and fish around with magnetic telescope.

YOU LOST THAT LITTLE FLAP?!?!?!?!?!?!?! OH SHI!T!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok, first relax, second, get a bottle of whiskey (canadian), third, drink half the bottle, pour the other half overself and ignite while going down the 401 in Toronto. Hope for an insurance check.

Just kidding, it will be fine in the taNK. If you have the tank out, sure look for it. not worth the time unless your working there anyway.
