Remote Fuel Pump Swtich = Anti-Theft

This idea was presented in some magazine about auto theft. You add a swtich, hidden somewhere only you know about, say under the seat. That switch either re-enables the fuel pump, or ya know allows the car to be started. It's supposedly cheap and simple, and very effective.

My car and my sister's (1993 Acura - very hot in the stolen car tallies) are kept outside. Has anyone tried or done this before? Couldn't the power wire leading to the fuel pump have a switch added in.

I know it's not likely someone will jack the BMW, but Integras were at one point like Top 10 most stolen cars, if they still aren't right now.

    Suggestions, Positive comments appreciated.

you could easily wire up a switch to the fuel pump relay. the car would start, and die soon after. that's not a bad idea at all. I wonder if you could wire it up to the central locking unit so when you lock your car it automatically shuts the fuel pump off (iif somebody breaks in your car they probably didn't unlock it).

Go ahead and give it a try, Rob. Since you were the one who introduced the idea, isn't it only fair that you should be the Guinea Pig? :D It actually sounds like a pretty good idea, especially wiring it to the alarm system.

Yeah, I think I'll give it a try for sure on my sis's Integra. It shouldn't be too hard really. And if it works I'll put it on my car.

Actually, the hardest part would be making sure my sister remembered to switch it!

P.s. If Rob (the former Integra guy) sees this, were there ever any real technical honda forums, I could use a wiring diagram for the '93 integra.

I have kill switch on my e30. I wired it to fuel pump positive wire, works good and only cost me like $2.99 just for switch, I had wires so I didnt have to buy it but what they cost like $5?

Good thing about wiring to fuel tank pump is that, you cant start car at all, once you cut the positive or negative, doesnt really matter, engine is turning but it doesnt fire.

Cheap, and easy modification you can do to your e30 to be safe from thiefs!

nothing is foolproof. one of the moderators of my local forum used to have a flamenco black pearl integra ITR. he had a dual stage shock sensor alarm, some other bs, and a fuel cut. the fuel cut was hidden so you press the shift boot, and it was located behind there

but someone still managed to walk off with his ITR one night while it was parked in his parent's driveway in NJ. no broken glass, no alarm, no lights flashing, no loud noise. it was parked right under his parents window, and they still got away with it

Why dont you just use the code function on the obc? It disables all the fuel relays.

My dads friend does this in ALL of his race cars(mainly old mustangs) because his track cars dont have locks or anything, and he parks them outside. But I did this in my car aswell, great safety device(and cheap).

I find the OBC function takes too long, and its easier to just locate your switch and flick it.

I did this in my integra, it was simple to do, and a good insurance against theft.

                        kill switch

i have a 89 325is the kill on my car is on the - and + on the coil with a switch if you flip the switch theres no way the car will start much easier they putting it on the fuel pump relay just wrap the wires in black tape so it doesnt look so obivous.

Where exactly are the wires to the fuel pump?

Under your back seat, in tank pump.

You have to remove the cap to get to the wires which is held by three bolts, if I remember correctly.

not everyonje has an OBC. Personally, I think the OBC is fairly worthless. I can calculate my fuel mileage in my head, the only other things I care about is the outside temperature (it freezes often around here) and the time, which the basic digital clock does just fine.
