i thought about doing this, but I bought a compustar instead. this way, it will be safe (as safe as a car with an alarm can be) and the remote start will still work

wow i never got this information when i asked about it a long time ago.

Anyway i was going to install the one i found in my parts but never knew where or what wires to cut so i never installed it.

someone posted where to put it and how to install it but cant find that now.

I think i will get a smaller one and stick under the shift boot and then mount it on the side closest to the driver so all you have to do is press the right spot on the shift boot to turn on the car, ez and not so noticable sort of

You can also put a switch on the ignition if you don't want to with the fuel pump. Just put a switch that turns on and off the "on" ignition (the key) position. It is all right there and you don't have to pull your back seat to do it.

just top let you guys know, the obc resets if you disconnect the battery. so its no use really. some theives will do a lot to steal a car.

a switch to cut fuel pump power = good idea
a switch to cut starter signal= better idea
both in different places = BEST IDEA!

          thats my input there.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT YEARS AGO.

USE A FOGLIGHT SWITCH, BREAK THE GROUND GOING TO THE FUEL PUMP. HIDE IT SOMEWHERE. VERY EASY!!! WHY DOES THIS THREAD SPAN 2 PAGES?

Man, if I had good directions I would attempt this feat tomorrow! I already took out my backseats, so I'm halfway there... Now all I need are directions...
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
                Mark: "You never will."

what directions do you need? all you have to do is cut one of the wires going to the fuel pump and wire up a switch to turn it on or off.

Hahah, I'm not good with electric wiring, that's all. I'll probably go buy a switch today and have my dad help me. There's two plastic cover things under my backseat. Which one is the fuel pump under if looking behind from the driver's seat.

Where do you guys live that thieves still try and hotwire cars?

Most ones I've seen will either pull a smash & grab, or show up with a flatbed if they really want the car.

I'm not worried about people stealing my car. Its not that popular to steal here; nothing in there anyway. I just want that fuel pump switch because I think it'd be cool and ultra-confusing for my friends. Besides, I'll be doing club racing in the future, so I might as well start getting all the cutoff switches hooked up.

Go sign up for the spec e30 mailing list, they've got a good little discussion on wiring up cutoff switches right now.

Whats the website (not to sound dumb). As for the switches, for the fuel pump: will a 16 amp toggle be well for this job?

My moms car was stolen (hotwired) out of our driveway last winter.

anyone have any clever places for the switch other than under seat and in shift boot? I think the best idea is to use the stock foglight switch...i think it would be tuff to figure that one out.
