I know and I've done it on my dads x3 that you hold s/r(dont know what its really called) and turn the key to position 1 or 2 etc etc.

Is there anyway to do the same on an e30 cluster?

summed up in one word NO

Its a bit more if you live in Australia, but still not too bad :)

I'll have to wait till summer, the temp now doesnt go over 25C, so even the fan clutch is having some time off :)

So after more money and replaced parts I still don't have a working Termperature gauge:-(

        List of parts I've replaced:
        2x Temp gauges
        1x working si board
2x coolent temp sensor's (not the sensor that goes to the dme)
        1x dme sensor
1x 2 switch rad temp sensor for aux fan

Now here's something that I hadn't noticed (or thought mattered until today) when I turn my car to the "ON" Posistion, my temp gauge pegs to full hot, and stays pegged until I crank the motor over, and then doesn't move at all. Also, when I tried to ground the single wire that connects to the coolent temp switch, the temp gauge did not peg to full hot, like it should off. All this being said, all that I can think of or say is that the wire is shorted or cut somewhere along the line. Any info or input on this pestering problem would be much appreciated, I'm getting frustrated and have never had this much electrical gremlims with any car I've owned.

        Thanx

The gauge going to full hot would be consistent with a short in the wiring between the cluster and the gauge or a shorted sensor.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
