So when my engine idles in neutral my car makes a clackity clack clack sound, when I push in the clutch the sound slowly goes away and ceases, If I rev up the engine in neutral the sound goes faster too, what can this be?

99% chance it's the bearing on the input shaft of the tranny.

Just deal with it; you can't change the bearing without rebuilding the whole tranny.

Ahh shit, will it cause an imminent failure, or soon failure of the tranmission? What else could go wrong because of this? Or is it just noise to deal with?

It won't cause anything. It'll run like that for the rest of it's normal life.

Mine's done this for the last three years...

Just push the clutch in before you turn it off! ;) No more problem!

The noise is the clutch release lever rattling against the input shaft as the engine shudders to a stop. When you push in the clutch, the lever has pressure on it and doesn't shake. Not to worry! It's not broken...
