    What the fuck is this! please help!

    i dont know what this is. we've been workin on my car for weeks, and so many parts and tools have been coming out. i dont what everything can b. please help

    Damn. You have HUGE hands, and a tiny, tiny little thumb.

    (It's the oil pump drive??? - I don't remember. Is this a m20 car?)

      thanx so much, im glad i figured this out before i put the oil pan on, and put oil in it and tried to start it. haha, thanx

        What worries me are the gears pictured at the ends...no such thing appeared in the pan. the pump dropped as a unit.

          You've just got to read the diagram correctly. As I see it, where it says "11" - don't worry about that, but note that dash'ed line. That tells you that that whole assembly is is inserted into the body of the pump.

          The lower "gears" are actually the pump itself. The shaft IIRC can slip out the top.

              honestly, my heart stopped. I thought you everything together first and later found this. haha this is most definitely the oil pump drive.

                yeah that diagram kinda worries me, but i guess thats what happens when u get a car from a tow yard.

                  nothing to do with a yard find, everything to do with how we took it apart.

                    But mike. When we took the oil pan and oil pump out. I don't remember a few of those things coming out. And I don't think we've been unassembling that badly. I mean c mon. The transmission is on a roll arond under the car. Haha. :P

                        haha i used a furniture mover dolly roller thing for my tranny. and my old m20 is sitting on it now too.

                        that gear in the diagram wont fall out on its own. its driven by the intermediate shaft. the only thing that came out with i pulled my oil pump was that drive shaft.

                          today, i got under the car. and everhthing was really simple. just had to to look at it. haha. there was a small hole inside that it fit in. it just stayed in there. and then we got the pump on and the pan. but thanx for all the help!!!
