    Custom intake help?

I have a 318 and want a little better air flow. The intakes on BMP and TMS are around $90 to $120. Is there anything I can do on my own for cheaper? Thanks

you mean a filter and tube?

defininatly. just be sure to doa heat sheild as well.

    I had a 318i, and I did one.

Expect good sound, and about .75 extra horses.

Yes, a filter and tube. What should I do with the sensors though? Should I just use alluminum for the sheild?

        plastic or aluminum

drill a hole in the tube you use and epoxy the sensor in the side. clean it up and paint it.

How should I clamp the intake tube to the intake boot? With some type of universal coupler? (Disposal of the old air box too...just remove it)

Lukas has them for cheaper than BMP or others. However he needs to get his stuff back online because I can't be positive on the price.

you may have to buy parts like Ricers use, just try to find some that are not gay colors.

Pull that intake box off and trash it. you will need the sensor thing off of it though.... just remouint it some where relatively close to where it was before....

              good luck

It sounds like you are trying to ditch the AFM in the process too? You are only supposed to remove the air box, not the AFM also. So the intake doesn't attach to the boot, it attaches to the AFM box.

What sensor and what does it look like? I pulled my stock box off and a few weeks afterwards i noticed my car's powerband is choppy and it sometimes cuts out. I don't remember a sensor on it, it's an '87 325i
