    9000 rpm tach

    I have been fiddle-farting around and dummied together a 9000rpm facia. This is the first attempt:



    I drew up a few facias (8000, 8500, 9000) on CorelDraw and printed with a lazer colour printer onto an overhead transparency and the back of the transparency white. For this trial I slit the facia to fit without removing the needles - not my dash so I do not want to risk damaging the needles.

      why? are you swapping in a rotary engine?

        It's for a M42 with bigger inlet and exhaust valves, Schmitthelm valve springs, Schrick Ti retainers, Catcams cams, mechanical lifters. Schmitthelm valve springs were being run in 6R4 metro and DFV Cosworths. They were reving the 6R4 metro with these springs to 13500 safely.

        8500rpms will not be out of the question.

              I wish we could spin the tach around so that redline/max rpm is at TDC but it would involve major surgery or after market,

                I have spoken to an instrument tech and it'd be possible to rotate the tach but it'd take a bit of surgery.

                    It's easy to rotate. We did it in our track car.

                        Did you rotate the whole tach? How did you arrange this with the circuit board and pins? ... or did you just reposition the needle?

                              Cat just rotate it because of the way it fits into the housing unless you guys get a different cluster to us but wouldnt think so.
