Checked and replaced all vacuum lines. I tested all vacuum lines and fittings to 25 in. Hg.

Car still runs like ass. Vacuum at idle is 5-3 in. Hg bouncing around.

Have a smoke test run to check for intake leaks. there are other possibilities, but there is no point in invetigating those until intake leaks are eliminated.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        All intake leaks are eliminated.

Remember that this literally happened suddenly between starts. I drove it up and down the street, ran mint. Put it on ramps. Turned it off. Five minutes later it wouldn't start at all.

All I did was cut the AC belt.

(Which I actually just got a new one and put it back on for shits and giggles and it had no effect)

Tough one... Perhaps you had some crap in your tank that was moved into the pump or filter when you put it up on the ramps. Maybe check the pump & filter.

That would cause a lean condition. This is running pig ass rich.

When I pull the fuel pump relay the car runs amazing for about 2 seconds and dies.

Also the cold start valve passes the bentley test.

Fusible link? Never thought to check that. That's the kind of ideas I like.

I'll be completely honest, I can't find a fusible link on my 85 318i. The Bentley manual doesn't mention one. Is there one?

I think I got it figured out. It is so painfully simple and so painfully obvious. I feel very sheepish for going through all that work to find this.

If you feel like taking a hack at a guess before I reveal the answer, give yourself this chance to guess.

My car was doing something similar. It would start but it would run really rough, smoke, smelled very rich etc etc. I ended up changing my fuel filter and it made a world of difference.
