Re ground CV joints

So the idea from one person is a reground eats into the case harden, whereas another train of thought is the case hardened surface is up to .100" thick so taking off .010" to put in .020" oversized balls doesn't matter. Has anyone bought regrinds and they've been working successfully?

why not just buy reman axles?
