Im trying to install my markd chip I just got in the mail. Did anyone else have the problem where their old chip was soldered into the board? Is my only choice now to go out and get a soldering gun to get this bitch out? If I try to pry it out Im afraid Im going to break some leads.

The chip shouldn't be soldered to the board. The socket it plugs into is soldered but the chip itself can be seperated. Take a closer look.Adam Fogg- '88 M3

The early eta 027 ecu's had the chips soldered in. I've seen 2 84's with them soldered. One of my friends unsoldered it and put in the chip. but had problems and ended up buying a new ecu. He wasn't to good at soldering and probally friend the board from to much heat.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker
