325i oil change

Any tips on changing the oil in a 325i? I noticed that the oil filter is conveniently inaccessible under the manifolds. Is it easier to put a new one in from the top or underneath the car?

Grab a knife, cut off your alternator belt - you don't need it, alternators are for sissies.

Wrap the belt around the oil filter a few times until you can use it as a handle. Remove filter. Replace filter, replace oil. Drive car. Wind will turn the fan which is bolted to the water pump, so you're all good for cooling.

Once you run out of spark, troll around workshops for people to jump you for a few minutes at a time so you can keep running.

I have a Fram oil filter wrench thing. All it did was make a dent in the filter.

The oil/filter were last changed two years ago because the PO didn't use the car much. My guess is that it's gotten stuck on there from all that time. Going to buy another tool right now...

Stab a screwdriver through it and spin.

Finally got it off with a tool that has a rubber strap that goes around the filter. The handle actually cracked a bit as I was doing this. That took way way too long to do...
