Never tried that. But here's a better description of what is happening. The solenoid clicks a lot, and I thought i saw the alternator fan budge once, but I might be wrong. I even tried off a HD commercial battery. My old man thinks the starter is stuck, and recommends that I take it off. The other possibility is that theres a short in it. So either way I have to pull the starter. Or do I? Anyone have any ideas?

Try tightening all the connections on the starter solenoid. All of them, even the small signal wires. Also check if you are getting voltage to the distribution block on the firewall behind the passenger's side strut tower.
