      some guy had an engine fire that melted his hood latch cable, he said this is how he got the hood open...again another kudos to BMW for being awesome and thinking ahead

                      This isn't new info folks, its published in numerous bmw manuals. The later cars actually have a hole in the grill for the screwdrive to fit through.
