    Dinan Chip Question

    I have a BOSCH ecu ending in 525 .. & I have a Dinan chip for the 173 ECU .

But I've been told by MarkD that his chip for the 173 will work for the 525 ecu , is there a difference between the two ecus ? will the 173 dinan chip work with my 525 ecu ?

    Cheers ,
    Robert

Yes it will work, I have a 173 chip in a 524, All I have to do to get it started is disconnect the crank position sensor for 10 seconds with the ignition on, then plug it in and hold the AFM wide open while starting it and pumping the throttle and sometimes using starting fluid.

        kidding, it works.

I am using a manual chip in an automatic car.

The dropdown menu to specify trans. type on Turner's site is for newer cars with electronically controlled automatic transmissions.

The ZF 4HP-22 that US E30's got is all mechanical.
There was an electronically controlled version for the European market.
