    A/C Question

I have an '88 325e that I have owned for just over a year. The ac went out a little while ago, and I want to recharge it. How can I tell if has had an r134a conversion or not?

the ac line by the passenger side strut will have a retrofit valve.

Maybe a stupid question, but what does one look like?

r134a fittings are quick connect style. R12 fittings screw on.

You can't necessarily tell what kind of refrigerant is in your system based on the service ports. Do you have reason to believe it's been charged with 134a? Is any gas present in the system? If not you've got some leak finding and fixing to do first.
