HVAC Not Working After Radio Install...Help!

So I recently did a radio install on my 85 325e and my HVAC does not work. Won't turn on, AC lights won't light up, etc. Nothing.

Checked the fuse box, no blown fuses. If this affects anything, my speakers on my left side are temperamental and less audible than the right side. I was told by a friend that the speakers may share common ground with parts of the HVAC system, so if that is the only problem that would be amazing. Other than this though, I'm not sure where to go from here.

    Help, anyone?

    Thanks in advance for looking!

E30's share a common ground, so it's very likely that is the culprit. Remove the rubber green boot that ties all the grounds from the speakers in, clip off that metal piece of shit, re-wire as necessary.

So that will solve my speakers cutting in/out or do you mean the hvac is a shared ground?

you don't need to run new wires. It's better if you do so you can add an amp later on (although I have been reading posts of people making it necessary to do so because of sound quality or something along those lines), but if you want to just wire up a quick radio, you can use the stock wires. I did it in mine with a Sony head unit and speakers and it works pretty well for 22 year old car. Like I said in my previous post....clip off the metal crimp that is covered in the green rubber cap and if you need to know the wires and what they go to, pull the speakers out and look on the back of them for the correct wires. When I did mine, the grounds were all yellow with a brown stripe. BMW has the wires twisted together from the factory, so it's pretty easy to find the ground for each individual speaker. For example, you pull out one of the speakers and it has a yellow wire with a brown stripe (the ground wire for that speaker) and a yellow wire with a red stripe. Look for the factory wires behind the radio (in this case the yellow with brown stripe twisted with the yellow with red stripe), cut, crimp/solder, and then follow the procedure until you are finished.

As far as your HVAC goes, you will have to check around to make sure you didn't bump something and pop a fuse. Remember to start out simple when it comes to tackling problems.

              This is incorrect.

There is no connection AT ALL between the HVAC system and the audio system.

They are not powered together nor are they grounded together...unless you went totally stupid when you installed the deck.

Take it apart and take some pictures of your connections.
