    A/C Not working need help

    1987 325E Coupe
OK, Ive tried for weeks now to get this damn thing working. I have recharged my system with R134a (its converted) and i have also checked all fuses and bla bla bla. When i turn the A/C on i get very limited cooling of the air. As in prolly around 75 degree air on a 90 degree day. This is after i recharged the system. The A/C hasnt worked for at least 5 years. When i hit the button and do max cool the compressor is running and all that jazz but like i said no cold air. Moving or stopped. Condenser is not blocked by bugs or anything that would be easy to fix of course. Please help

    Search, search, search, SEARCH.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but this topic is covered numerous times. E30's are known to have shitty idle cooling, not to mention if it has been 5 years since it was last used, chances are your drier needs to be replaced or your compressor is shot. I just recently went the distance of replacing just about everything, and I did this all in my garage with some tools and a Haynes manual/search on R3V and E30tech.

Did you properly evacuate the system before recharging it?

What's your static pressure? Also, if your system was empty when your recharged it...it means you have a leak, no ifs, ands, or buts. If you have a leak, you most likely have air in the system (after 5 years, pretty much guaranteed) and if you have air in the system when you recharge it, well, shit won't work right. Evacuate the system, replace your drier, replace your orifice tube, and put a vacuum pump on for about an hour, then charge it (WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF 134a FOR THE SYSTEM! Find an online conversion calculator for r12 to 134a because it's not the same charge for both refrigerants)

check your air dampers if they are working or broken in one position.
also when your car is running, the air gets cooler.

2 lbs of refrigerant worked for me after a 30 minute vacuum.
