    what is this? engine bay part looks like it's leaking a black goo...



    it's the orange module, just above the windshield washer fluid. there's an identical one on the other side, also leaking. the black goo leaking out of it is actually not liquid anymore. it's solid, with a rubbery feel, like it was dried up silicone, but harder.

    can anyone tell me what this is?

    It's the sensor to deploy the airbag. Never seen one leak goo before!

        hmm... so if it's an airbag sensor, and i'm replacing my airbag steering wheel with an mtech, i won't need it?

          I bet its some type of non conductive fluid from inside the relay although Ive never seen that in a relay. But then again airbag relays are most likely a different spec.

            Yes, if you have no more airbag wheel you can remove them. I did.

                I've got this same issue and want to get this stuff off before the engine goes in, any ideas on what to remove that black silicone leakage with?
