    Flywheel Question

Will the flywheel from an eta work for a 5 speed swap on a 325i? If so, is there a major difference between the eta flywheel and the 325i flywheel?

It will work, yea. The eta flywheel may or may not be a single mass, the I cars used dual mass. Shouldnt make a difference though as far as if it will work.

The only other difference is that E cars have a pin on the edge of the flywheel for the sensors to pick up. Doesn't make a difference on I cars, but you can't use an I flywheel on and E car because it won't have the pin.

Is there a performance difference between the two and how can you tell the difference between the two?

          pre 85 eta Single mass-Heavy
          ~86 up Dual mass-Super heavy
          325i-lighter
323i-lightest(Or at least the one I had was lighter then any 325i flywheel I ever had)

That's great.. so I would be better off getting a 325i flywheel and making a frisbee out of the one I pulled out of the 87 325e right?

Typo. He meant to say "I" cars used single mass?

The one I had was either 323i or 320i, I still don't know how I got it. but it was very lightweight and had the same bolt pattern, spacing, and diameter of a 325i flywheel. I sold it to Coldaccord not sure if he ever used it or not.
