    Testing an AFM

Is the a way to test to see if an AFM is bad or not, besides putting it on a buddies car, and if not, is there someone who sells working ones?

The AFM can be tested for operation by watiching the resistance as the vane is moved through it's range. The resistance should change smoothly from min to max.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

What would a good min and max reading be and where on the AFM do I test for the resistance?

The resistance is checked between pins 7 & 28 (pins 2 & 4 on the connector). The min and max aren't that important. What is important is that the resistance varies smoothly with vane opening. In almost all cases, AFM problems will be a worn spot(s) in the resistance track, which will show up as jumps in resistance as the vane moves. The best way to check the AFM is with an analog meter.

Is there a reputable dealer/person that you would suggest I go through if I have to replace it?

you can change it yourself. New ones are very expensive so i'd pick a good used one. To change it you just need to remover you air box and unplug the sensor and put the new air box in. Its pretty simple almost cant mess up a 2 minute job

I just did the water pump and timing belt, it's not a matter of difficulty I was asking WHERE I could get a good rebuilt/used one.
