What do e30 M3 "rollers" go for.

Thinking of swaping in my motor, and what every else I need into a e30 m3 shell.

Not something that has been striped down for racing - but something that has motor gone, maby seats, tranny, ect...

What do you guys think is a fair price for a clean e30 m3 with no drivetrain?

I've done some research - but wanted to see what you guy in the know have to say.

    thanks.!

        You guessed it!

        - Oh come on - don't be a m3 snobb. It's not like I'd be pulling out a good s14 and replacing it with a m30!

it would have to be damn nice to pay 6k i think. and complete except for motor and tranny. a pieced together m3 isnt worth 10k to me and youd have that in it easy sourcing another s14. i know that isnt your goal but thats how i would approach it. 4-5k would be nice but realistically its prolly not going to get you a really nice shell.

Chris at BMWWholesale.net did the same exact thing and I know he has e30 shells lying around. Not sure if they are M3s but give him a call and ask. The truck freight from PA would probably kill ya, but maybe he knows someone in your area.

You could also talk to Bill there.

I've looked over this myself, but in terms of a racecar. I think next year I'd like to buy an e30m3 for trackdays and maybe get in to racing

Yea, 6k would have to be MINT.

Here what I am thinking - Why keep spening money on a non-M e30 when I can gat a m3 for less?

Here is what I would do if I kept the e30

                side skirts - $300
                Mtech2 wing - $250
                IS lip - $150
                paint - $1500
                Mics body work - $300
                interior - $500-$1000
                5-lug $1500

That totals to about $5000, not including labor

Now if I could pick up a shell - as long as the exterior is a 9 out of a 10, and is in decent shape mechantically and otherwise, I've just got myself a nice e30 m3 for the same price.

There just is a whole LOT less to do to a e30 m3. Everything is there, suspention, brakes, styling, ect....

Hence why I moved on to the M6... I wasn't prepared to take a dive for $10k+ worth of interior/exterior projects that I would never see again.

Most rolling shell M3's are going to be junked out anyways, so you are going to pay $4-6k just for the shell and then a lot on fixing up the body, the interior, etc. anyways. Mint M3 shells command a great premium.

Yea but most of those pieces are going to be common e30 pieces which can be had for cheap. As long as it comes with the e30 m3 "stuff" suspension, all body panels/pieces, gauge cluster and other thing like that it might be worth it.

I am just saying its not necessarily cheaper than doing the upgrades he wants to do on his car.

I have been looking on and off as well. Unfortunately I just spent all of my money on a house (what kind of dumb investment was that!? ;) ).
From what I have seen, 5k will get you a nice roller w/o drivetrain.

The shell will be fooked, i would stay away from them.
