locking system problem (searched)..

hey guys, I've searched on this but can't seem to find anything describing the same issue I'm having..

I normally use the trunk lock to lock/unlock all the doors, including the gas cap.. intermittently though (more often than not), it doesn't work on the other doors.. this gets to be a problem when um, I need gas :/

each of the door locks work individually, but the only way to unlock the gas cap is through the central locking system (unless I'm missing something?)

usually if it decides to not work at any time, I can go back out and try it later and it will magically work.. I know my E30 likes to mess with me every now and then, but damn!

Luke is probably right.

The actuators are real testy in these cars. Try this though. Before you get out of the car, lock the passenger side lock by hand by pushing the pin down. Then go to the trunk and lock everything. When you come back to unlock it, you should be able to unlock EVERYTHING

tried that.. I tried every combination of lock this, unlock that, etc.. same thing

the problem was intermittent until lately - it just doesn't work at all...

which actuator should I replace? or is there only one..

I would clean up the door jam connectors first because it's easy to check. Since you use the trunk, the door jamb connectors wouldn't affect the gas cap actuator though so I would try another central locking unit and go from there.
