When an event occurs do you see the tach drop? If so, look to the CPS, main relay, fusible link, or DME.

If the tach doesn't drop but the econometer drives towards zero, look to the fuel filter, FPR, or pumps.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

My econometer crapped out and only works when the speedo wants to work......everything is mint once your up passed those rpms. You could even be in that range and as long as you dont floor it its fine......fuel filter hopefully?

With that behavior you might have a bad spot in the resistance trace in the AFM.

Come to think of it, the plastic cover on top of it fell off i recently replaced it and siliconed it back on.....fixes?

If the problem is a worn spot in the resistance track, the wiper arm can be tweaked to follow a different path. But then a good used AFM isn't expensive.

(my first post, i like to read not write lol)

Matt, I've had the same problem with my 325is. The battery on the eta is in the front right? I would check your connections/terminals/etc. Wiggle the wires and see if the engine cuts out. This was my problem.

Well, no such luck on my issue, i was told it could possibly be a coolant temp sensor. i guess ill try that

Well i have tried just about everything....

I did fuel filter the other day, cleaned my icv, and still no avail...

I listened to my main fuel pump and it was whining like a crazy person but i dont really want to say this because i know im going to get the "oh its your FP change that next" I dont want to if i dont have to.......

Any other ideas? i was told check my battery connections they are tight but maybe ill disconnect and reconnect.

                        Its like this

                        1st gear- revs up nice
2nd- starts pulling slight skipping from hesitation
                        3rd- again
                        4th- fine after 2.5k
                        5th-not really used

so anything under 2.5k its like either cutting out or it cuts out and its just blahhhh.

                        Help :[

I guess my only options are a FPR, Fuel Pump, FP relay......i cant tell what the issue is cause when the car is shut off and restarted it runs mint again then cuts out soon after. my Coolant light has been on so ill top that off. i am at a horrible loss

I can't believe no one has recommended you change your distributor cap and rotor. That turned out to be my problem when I was cutting out.

Other than that, what plugs did you use? Bosch copper cores I hope...

Don't let the guys at the parts stores talk you into the multiple pronged spark plugs OR platinum. You don't need either. Basic knowledge is electricity finds the closest route to ground. SO, it will chose one prong to fire off of. So the other two or three aren't utilized.
