    starting problems

My e30 was sitting for about 2 weeks during transport. When I went to pick it up I brought a booster pack cause I thought I’d be dead. Sure enough it was and after a boost it stated up well. I drove the car around for 20 min and then turned it off and tried to start it again – no start. Nothing happened when I turned the key at all – no lights came on and there was no clicking.

I boosted it again and it started good. Drove for about 10 min and the car just stopped dead. The hazard lights didn’t even work. I boosted it in the middle of the street and then it made the 20-minute drive home without problems. But it still won’t start on it’s own.

I boosted the car last night and drove it around for half an hour without any problems but it still wouldn’t start on it’s own. I took the battery out last night and it’s been trickle charging since then. In a few hours I will try it again and if that doesn’t work then I’m going to buy a new battery.

Anything else I should be looking at as the cause of these symptoms?

    TIA,

    Spencer

Well your battery obviously needs to be replaced. But your alternator might also be dead. Have it tested after you replace the battery.

A new battery did the trick.

Like TJ said, your alternator could also be on the fritz. Had the same problem about two years ago.
