50 cent piece of plastic ruins my day

driving the cabby today, the little strap that holds the hose that goes from the water pump to the front of the t-stat housing broke. This allowed the hose to get ever so slightly in the way of the fan.

As you can imagine, those two do not play well together. Luckily I noticed the smell of antifreeze and the "kuhlwasser" check control light before the temp gauge was affected at all and was in a prking lot when it happened.

Unluckily, I had to wait over two hours for a flat bed to tow my car :(

Two hours in a BK parking lot full of rednecks - now that's excitement!!! Even better was the car load of Mexicans, one of whom said (and without the accent, it does not do it justice) "shit, holmes, that car is low"

The tow operator was cool. He looked like your average bubba, wearing the Dodge Racing hat and chewing tobacco, but he knew exactly where to find and place the tow hook, helped me pop the IS lip off for clearance and surprised me on the way back with his knowledge about BMWs - the nikasil issue in e34s, the timing belts on the M20s, etc.
