Has this ever been done? Any links, pictures, etc?
tried a search, but it didnt uncover much...
    Thanks!
    It´s been done,
how much power are you looking for??
If about 300rwhp you can do that easily with a M20

I would say you could get 200whp easily and reliably from your M20 without using a turbo.

200whp from an n/a M20 will not be easy or cheap. You're talking at least an aggressive 2.8L stroker, or a mild 3.0L. Neither method would be cheap.
200whp from a turbo M20 would probably only take 7-8psi, not even intercooled. And M20s are plenty strong and can handle much more boost pressure than that even. A well put together turbo would probably cost around the same as doing a proper n/a stroker.

On the other hand, you could get 200whp out of an M30 with probably only 5-6psi from a turbo, non-intercooled. But your front end will be about 75+ lbs heavier with this set-up. And this isn't an easy or cheap concept either. You'd have to figure in the M30 swap first, then the cost of turboing it.

What's your budget with this project? Were you really looking forward to using the M30, or did you just consider it for its robustness? If you're just looking for the cheapest hp/$ option go with turboing a stock M20B25 ("i" motor). You could reach 200whp easily, but have the option to get 300whp later if you wanted without really having to do much more than crank up the boost, intercool it and get it tuned correctly.

I'm not an expert on M30s (*disclaimer*) BUT it seems like 200whp should be pretty attainable with a normally aspirated M30 i.e. a late model M30 with a mild cam, exhaust, chip

Also true. I forgot about the B35 with 208bhp stock. I was thinking of the B34 with only 182bhp stock.

                  FWI.

Last person I knew with a turbocharged m30 swap into a e30 lost control of the car shortly after getting it on the road and spent nearly a month in a coma. His legs were also nearly amputated, but the doctors managed to save the bad one... although its about a inch shorter then it used to be.

Why not find an m20 for cheap and rebuild it first? Find one that had a broken timing belt. Likely, it will need a rebuild anyways and most people dont wanna deal with that, so they will sell the motor for really cheap. That way you dont have to deal with any down time and you can still drive your car while you rebuild the other motor.

You aren't getting uncontrollable wheelspin at 80mph in a 1.6l civic.

If you're looking for 200whp, pick up a S50 and swap it in. You can always turbo that motor later on, and they have been proven to well over 800whp.

Only problem with an S50/S52 swap in Aus is that they are hugely expensive..
