    hood shock change

I don't know if anyone has tried this but I have. You can put and e32 hood shock in to replace the weaker e30 one. it fits on but won't allow the clip to slide over due to a thicker rod end. However, you can grind down this part in order to allow for a clip.

I never did this and just left it. I wanted to see if it would dislodge itself from the mount point. unlike the the e30 shock which wobbles on the pin unless you secure it with the clip. the e32 shock with the thinker end fits snug onto the pin with no wobble. So it can't back itself off. I've had it now for almost a year and hasn't come loose.

it is a better to have this shock on those windy days where stock one might be a bit weak after some age possibly causing you to wear the bonnet..

To me this is a solution in search of a problem. A new OE hood shock has proved to satisfactory on all of my E30's. I see no need to fit a stronger one.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
