WTF is this and does it failing cause my symptoms

Here is this guy I found next to my AFM all taped up from the PO...it soounded like a busted china set and I found it to be completely FUBAR'd on the inside

My car runs rough at idle and missfires/stumbles...would this cause the engine to run a little warmer (needle just below halfway on the gauge)?

    Thanks

Unplug it and see how it runs. Mine's been unplugged for years with no ill effect. I think it's just an altitude sensor.

Yes, that is the altitude pressure sensor. Tells the ECU when the air gets "thinner". Would not have anything to do with temp just fuel.

Would this cause my idle to go High and Low until warmed up???

Also, once warm after a drive the idle is high and stays at ~1100rpm...wth

When was the last time you cleaned your ICV?

if its broken than leave it unplugged.,it could be causing wrong readings. im pretty sure you only need it for high altitudes

I cleaned my icv when I just changed my cylinder head...

The PO left two used spares in the trunk. Maybe I can play around with those.

The clean AFM I just bought made EVERYTHING run like butt so I had to use my old one
