Factor in the rather heavy m20 motor, larger, heavier duty tranny and differential, sunroof and sound deadening, you can get a lot of that weight difference right there.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

I think it's a lot of sound deadening. My buddy's 318is is a lot louder inside than my car, which is pretty quiet.

Cheap: lose spare, interior, tools, carpets in trunk, all that crap, AC, CC, PS

Expensive: buckets, CF/FG panels, Light wheels, brakes, Lexan, etc....

I should have been more specific and said practical for DD duties. But yeah, all good ideas.

Someone said that the sound deadening could be removed from under the carpet, but then the floor would be uneven.

Cheap, practical: Spare for a can of Fix-it shit (if you feel lucky), rear seat is an optional feature, tools, carpet AND sound deadening in trunk.....E30M50 guy told me how to remove it (heat gun, putty knife), A/C might will go.....I don't use it any how....

any other points? I don't see many other options.

Most importantly - don't drive on 21lbs wheels! I'm tempted to either clean and paint my baskets and drive on them daily......or sell my Borbets for Euro weaves.....or Kosei's or RK's or another light wheel.......

Who else Auto-Xs and what do you do to drop weight?

                {thread hijack} :P

well, both my old ITR and 318is have carpet over bare body panels. Well the ITR did I know, the 318 might have some sound deadening, but less than a 325. If you do that, you can probably save a good amount, and lose nothing in the way of streetability.

possibly, leaving in the shit in the back will help, you could always add some bling bling subs to even it out...
