    Motor Mounts

Hey so right now I've got polyurethane motor mounts installed by one of the PO's of my newtome 91' 318is. They create quite a bit of vibration and I think it'll quite down the ride a lot, not mention get rid of all that vibration if I switch back to stock.

Now the stock motor mounts are 80$ a piece from BAV, ouch. PO said that 5-series mounts will work, not quite as soft as the 3-series but a lot softer then the poly ones..

Anyhow anyone know any solutions? I'd really like to go with the mounts meant for it but 160$ isn't a nice cheap fix. If someone knows where to get them cheaper that would be great but most other places are actually a lot pricier..

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can use E36 and E46 motor mounts on an M42

If that is the case then that would be a HUGE money saver, anyone have affirmative confirmation on that?

Kai, head over to m42club.com. They have all kinds of info about these cars. From what I remember, only the e28 mounts or factory m42 mounts will work.

I had the e28 ones on my car. They still transferred a lot of vibration into the cabin. I'd imagine it's a lot less than the poly ones though. I put the OEM ones back in my car.
There aren't any aftermarket stock mounts. They're expensive because they're hydraulic.

I think I still have my e28 mounts. PM me if you want them, I'll sell them very cheap.

Stock is the only way to go. They're hydraulic, not solid rubber like all other BMW mounts.

Thanks Trey I saw that site before but forgot about it, sadly it's not letting me register but I emailed an admin...

I think I'm just gonna go stock on the mounts, the less vibration the better. Thanks for all the help guys.
