    Engine Oil Check Panel Light

    so I reset my oil and service lights already (cheers for this forum)

    And I do not have problems with oil pressure, (I.E. Oil Pressure Switch is new and light functions as intended)...

    Why and or how does my "Engine Oil" light on my Check Panel (Next to Sunroof Motor) stay on?

    Sidenote: my "Brake Lights" Light is on upon startup but goes out when I put foot on brake...wtf?

      it means your oil level is low, unless the sensor is bad then it means the sensor is bad and your oil is full. ;)

      the brake test is supposed to do that, it can't check the circuit until you turn on the brake lights.

          If you let the oil light come on, it may require a couple of ignition on/off before it resets it self. Normal...at least for mine.

          brake lights light normal and working correctly.

              Check your dipstick and see if the oil is low. The engine oil light there is for the oil level.

              Top the oil off and it should stop coming on in a few hours. (When mine went on it took a few hours and start/stops of the car for it to go out for me.)

              If it's topped off and still says on the oil level sensor could be dead or the wiring to it has been damaged.

              Until you press on the brake and activate the brake switch (thus checking the brake light circuit) that light will be on. It was designed to work like this.

                  Nice! Thanks for the input folks! Nice to know my lights are actually functioning like they are supposed to haha

                  Nah the oil level is always perfect since I got it 2 months ago and replaced the Cylinder Head and HG.

                  I had a ton of coolant/oil puke issues from the PO before so I'm guess that messed up the sensor...maybe run some seafoam or MMO and after awhile it will clear up

                      The sensor is probably gunked up. It can be removed and cleaned.
                      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                          found the issue...inspected the wires/removed the unit to clean and the wires were so worn that both snapped off the rubber part on top

                          Looks like a new unit is needed...and that I'll be constantly checking my oil in the meantime haha!

                              Good find.
                              Checking the oil regardless of the sensor operation is always good practice anyway. I check all of my cars every two weeks, or the morning of and after a long drive to check for consumption. None so far as long as the proper weight oil is in there.
