When I push in the trunk lock it gets stuck in that position. I took the lock out of the car and it's pretty hard to push the lock in and out. I tried spraying wd40 in it but this didn't help.
Help! Trunk lock is jammed.

That is typical of the trunk lock. keep spraying it in the back of the lock- you can push it back out through the back and work the lub in from front to back. Better still how about soaking it over night in wd40 or equivalent solution. Should clear up the blockage..lol.sigpicComment

Do you think soaking it in wd40 would be safe?

ummm ok...would you like to disassemble the whole thing maybe (Grin) I've done that a few times.
Yes soaking it will be fine. afterward blow it out and take some white lithium grease aresol and stray it into the key hole of the lock.sigpicComment

i'll disable it if i have to as a last resort. i can't get the c ring out but i didn't try very hard.
i'll try soaking it to see if it helps.

well i'm pretty sure i fixed it. wd 40 did not help so i heated the lock up for a couple minutes and then applied gear oil or bike chain oil onto the lock while i cycled it in and out for a few minutes. this helped a lot. i put it in my freezer to cool it down to see if it would get stuck again but it didn't.
so to anyone else who might have this problem try gear oil.

what would you suggest then? grease?
and how long will the gear oil last before it gets crappy? it really only seems to have problems when it was cold. if the gear oil were to get me through this winter i think i'd be ok

the dealer sells lock grease for the lock cyl rebuilding kits. I don't think this is necessary. Penetrating oils tend to get grimy like crown or wd40 which over time gums up the locks.
I would take a white lithium grease to lube the lock. it is water repellant so moisture won't get into the tumbler. Every so often lube the plunger (chrome surround) to make sure it doesn't get stuck frozen. you can use crown for this or any liquid lube. That rubber seal which is supposed to be there usually deteriorates resulting in binding or seizing plunger. I have no idea if this seal is available separate from the dealership.sigpicComment
