    How Long to Part Car?

Hey guys, I have a reoccurring flywheel problem on my car so when the time comes I think i'll part it (nobody wants to buy a car with flywheel problems).

I'm leaving to go live in Germany for 4 months in Feb. and will need the funds from my car by then.

How early should I start parting my car?

How long does it take to sell all the parts?

What do I do with the stripped chassis?

Start now, parts take time to sell.

If the body is clean and semi rust free, try selling it. If not, junk it.

what is it and what condition? I can't see parting a clean car over a flywheel issue. what's wrong with the flywheel?

try posting it up on the seattle BMWCCA website if you want to sell it whole.

1986 325e, its a beater, i have loads of spare parts including a full 5spd swap, six extra bottlecaps, four spare fenders and more.

To elaborate on the flywheel when I first had the problem every once and awhile when starting the car I would get a loud screeching sound and the starter wouldn't catch. A small part of the flywheel had become grounded down and eventually the timing pin wore off somehow. I'm not sure whether the timing pin and ring gear were the same problem but it stemmed from a bad csb, and torn tranny mounts.

Long story short pulled the tranny and replaced the flywheel, swapped out the starter (not a new starter), and the rubber parts. Cars been running fine except the screeching has come back. Its random but every once in a couple days the engine will stop on that spot and the starter will not catch.

I'm assuming that soon the computer wont get any timing data from the pin and it will cease to run.

well, in that case, I'd still post it on the cca website (www.bmwpugetsound.org). the PNW E30 vultures will circle... :)
