Seat belt chime after ignition turning ignition off

Hi guys,
I had a strange thing happen in the E30 today that I had never noticed: after driving the car, I pulled into a parking stall and while the car was running/idling, I unbuckled the seat-belt...and I start hearing the chime like when you first start the car.

So I tun off the ignition and it still chimes....

Then pull the key out of the ignition, and I get out of the car and the chime stops.

Then...I put my hand down on the seat and press on the driver's seat cushion and the chime starts up again...take the weight off and it stops. Press and chime....remove weight and it stops...


Did these cars come with a seat-belt buckling/weight sensor fr the driver seat? I've driven with no seat belt and it's never chimed before.

This is for a 89 325i

here's what you do:

1. remove knee bolster.
2. remove and disconnect chime.
3. throw chime in trash.
4. reinstall knee bolster.

Yes, the drivers seat belt female receptical has a wiring loom on it for that, but i dont think the seat itself has a sensor.

So I figured out after posting that if i hold in the seat belt release button the chiming goes away while I am seated with the ignition turned off, but i I stay seated with the ignition turned off and the belt out of the buckle it keeps chiming.

If I take my weight off the seat cushion, the chiming stops with the buckle out of the seatbelt receptacle.
