    Sunroof Problem

Hello I have a 1991 325I with a broken sunroof mechanism. I let my dad use my car for several weeks and when he returned it I attempted to close the sunroof from closed but slanted upward/open towards the rear position. It was sluggish and then a plastic arm cracked in half that was connecting the glass to the metal track on the passenger side. Upon further inspection I noticed the metal track is bent towards the rear. I have no idea how this happened or is possible. Currently I am able to use the electric motor to push the sunroof open but it will not bring it forward and close it or open it in the slanted position.

Anyways my question is if I pull an electric sunroof unit at the junkyard with a metal sunroof will I be able to take my glass sunroof and reattach it to the junkyard unit that has the metal sunroof. Or do the glass and metal sunroofs have different tracks? I have never worked on a sunroof before and I don't want to mess mine up more than it already is. Help is appreciated thanks!

The metal tracks in the car are the same, but a lot of the hardware is different to allow for the
separate sliding panel. And the plastic tracks attached to the cables are different in the metal vs
glass roofs that I have (but it's also 87 vs 90).

Sorry it's not a whole answer, but it's what I've got...
