They do but they are held in by some fairly stout spring clips so caution not to break the (likely brittle) plastic. I also suggest your check the damper ring (#14)which is what supports the shaft passing through the cowl. They get brittle and crack causing the wiper to wobble and bind.

I had to go look at my 2 e30's after seeing your pics. Your wipers point PS>DS, whereas mine are the other way around. If I didnt see your fuse box I would have thought your pics were reversed but the plastic vent on your drivers side has a round blank on it which would seem to accommodate the mounting format that I have.
Funny that I've never noticed that before...unless your car is RHD ?
