Teach me about this fuel pump

This is a fuel pump for my 318is and before I start messing with it I want to know what hoses go where and what wires do what.

Whats to know? Are you just trying to swap it ou?

If thats the case then do this:
Undo the connection (fuel level sender & power to pump)
Undo the two hoses coming off (logn curvy one is feed to engine, shorter one is return to tank)
Take out the fuel level sensor by removing the 8mm nuts
The twist the fuel pump assembly counter-clockwise to loosen and remove
You may have to wedge a screwdriver in between the pipes to help untwist it or you can put a flathead on the outer flange and tap it a few times
Should be easy eaither way though.

ignore everything that is not actually connected to the fuel pump.

from top to bottom, left to right:
fuel level sender, fuel return line, fuel pump power, fuel line
