    O2 Sensor: Help!

How the hell am i suppose to get to this? By looking at some pictures in the bentley, none telling exactly where it is, I think I may have found the plug to it. The only problem is that the cord leads down, and beneath this aluminum type plate that is farely large when viewed from under the car, its all one big piece. Help!!

first it helps to know what car you have, as the engines are not all the same. secondly, I don't see what is so hard to find, it should be attatched to the downpipe right after the exhaust manifolds. Mine is in plain obvious view (I have a 325ix).

if you can't figure out where it is maybe you should get somebody who knows what they are doing to help ;)

      My car is a 325es

Second, it is not in obvious sight, otherwise i would have found it, like i said, its behind a alum. metal plate...atleast thats where the cord leads

oh btw, that last line of yours made me check to see if it was Jordan responding to my post.

so look down past the exhaust manifolds. Maybe the chord you're following is the wrong one. It might help to look from under the car instead, the E isn't that much different from an i, and there really is only one place it can be (on your downpipe).

Well, the car i took my manual trans was an eta, and the o2 sensor was near the cat converter....so try getting under the car, on 325i\is u can see the sensor right away after the down pipes.

found it, was rusty and coal stuff around the outside, which made the ridge buldge out right before the part you put the socket on. which made it so the socket didt' fit. finally got the correct wrench, and after leaving wd40 on it and another loosener, i tryed again with pipe on wrench, and it stripped the thing.

only then did i realize, after not knowing what to do now, that i was replacing my exhaust from cat to the muffler in 2 weeks, and that i am only wasting my time.

so i'll have the guy put it in when he welds in new exhaust.

            thanks for the help guys

The O2 sensor is before the cat though? ;)

true true, i miswrote my thoughts. i'm having the pipe cut where it comes to one pipe, from two, welding on a universal converter, and getting a new stock pipe and muffler
