My RPM gauge only goes to 5k?

Its definitely a m20b25. The intake manifold is a dead giveaway.

Intake manifold isn't a dead giveaway. I've had 325i intake manifolds on both of my eta motors, many others have as well, it's a popular mod for the 325e.

What year is your car? From your sig it looks like an 87 IS just like mine, but your idle control valve looks screwy, almost like you have an intake boot from a late model car.

yes the intake boot is not the right one but it works and fixed my hunting idle problem. ill take more pics of the motor right now. give me 2 seconds.

i didnt seem like it but the guy i got it from (the guy my buddy got it from) was a pathological liar. he own dad fired him from their used car lot because he was a total jack ass. he told me the car would never pass smog because he put in bigger injectors... other BS in general. the car was his dads and his dad was PISSED he sold the car saying that they just did "alot of work to it".... i want to call his dad soon and ask what exactly was done.

Oh yes, I can see you've squeezed in an L shaped ICV onto a T fitment intake boot.

ive been reading too that green lights are supposed to turn on when i go to start the car.... yea that bar doesnt do anything.... and maybe the is the reason my temp gauge doesnt work. used to work but now it doesnt... i punched the cluster and the needle flickered...
